Meaning azan

אָזַן

a.  A primary root word.
b. Probably to expand.
c.  But used only as a denominative from 241 ('ôzen   ) ; to broaden out the ear (with the hand).
d.  By implication to listen; give ear, hear.

Denominative
A verb that is derived from a noun or adjective. For example, "to author a company report". The word author in this example here is a verb derived from a noun "author"

Personal Note

To hear or listen is to be obedient. To be obedient is to do what God says to do (Love your neighbour as yourself).  Hence, to hear or listen means to do what God says to do.
